The repair process involves the injection of special adhesives into the damaged part of the glass.  The degree of success of each repair is a function of several variables.

The best results are obtained when:

  • the damage is recent,
  • the point of impact is small,
  • the cracks around the area are small,
  • and there is no moisture or foreign matter in the damaged area.

If you are dissatisfied with the repair, we will credit the cost of repair toward replacement.  If your insurance company paid for the repair, they will receive the credit.

At Specialty Auto Glass, we guarantee that the repaired portion of the windshield will not crack further and the repair will pass any state vehicle inspection, or we will credit the cost of the repair toward replacement

Q. Repair or replace?
A. Windshields have become very expensive in the last few years and break more easily because they are thinner. Insurance companies are realizing a substantial savings on their glass replacement costs by using repairs as an alternative to replacement. To promote this benefit they are willing to pay the total cost of repairs.

Q. Will I still be able to see the crack after it is repaired?
A. Most stone breaks clear up 70-95%, leaving a spot where the resin was injected. From inside the vehicle, there may be a slight noticeable dot where the original damage was. Cracks may be more noticeable depending on the age of the crack and how much dirt has accumulated in the crack prior to the repair. Most repaired cracks look like a strand of fine hair, slightly noticeable. Most of the glare from the sun will be gone once the crack is repaired.

Q. What is the purpose of repair?
A. The purpose of repair is to stabilize the damage, keep it from spreading, and restore the structural integrity of the glass.
